The AeroGarden ($149.99 retail) is a kitchen gadget that allows you to grow herbs and vegetables indoor inside your own home all year round. All you need to do is to put in the seeds, add water, drop in nutrient tablets and switch the unit on. Leave the rest to this kitchen gadget to sort out. It delivers nutrients and water to the roots at a controlled rate. It also switches on and off the lights automatically as of course all plants need light to grow.
The clever thing about this automated indoor herb garden is that it will tell you when to add water and nutrients. You don't really have to keep checking to see how things are.
You can grow all sorts of things: herbs, lettuces, green beans, cherry tomatoes etc etc. You just buy one of the many seed kits (typically $19.99 each) and start growing. You can even grow your own seeds (whatever they may be) by making use of the Master Gardener Seed Kit (US$39.99).

While the views expressed are to a certain degree valid, many readers of the article posted further comments to the effect: "But it doesn't matter!". The point that matters, they argued, is that AeroGarden works and does what it says!
We agree with that view. It is not important at all what fancy terms the manufacturer uses to market a product as they all do that anyway. The important thing is that the product works as expected. Update: There is an improved version of AeroGarden called AeroGarden Pro 100 made of stainless steel. It also uses improved monitoring technology to adjust the amount of water, nutrients and light to give to the plants, according to their current stage of growth, resulting in faster and larger yield. It has a light bulb replacement reminder. All light bulbs get dimmer and dimmer with use and so this feature will make sure that your plants always receive light at the right intensity for optimal growth. It has a 24-hour light cycle to let you override the built-in timer so that you control how much light you want to give to your plants. So all in all, this is now going to be a better choice when you are considering buying an AeroGarden.
