Angelcare Movement Sensor

Angelcare is a manufacturer of special baby monitors that detect movements. An Angelcare movement sensor can be a very important piece of safety equipment for your baby. Two models will be covered here, the elementary AC201 model and the more advanced AC401 deluxe model.

Angelcare Movement Sensor AC201

What is it? The Angelcare movement sensor AC201 is a baby sound monitor and movement sensor designed primarily to monitor a baby when he or she is asleep in a crib. It consists of:

a movement sensor pad (to be placed under the mattress)
a nursery unit (transmitter)
one or more parental unit(s) (receiver)

How do the pieces fit together? The movement sensor pad is placed underneath the mattress. If the crib has a flexible or uneven base (e.g. metal spring base), an additional piece of plywood should be placed underneath the sensor pad to create a firm surface. The movement sensor is then connected to the nursery unit via a cord. The nursery unit transmits sound and movement information to the parental unit. This product offers two channels, A or B, for the nursery unit to communicate with the parental unit. You simply take the parental unit wherever you go at home to monitor your baby.

How do you use it? You can use it in one of three modes:

Sound and Movement with "Tic": You can hear your baby’s sounds, see sound lights, and hear a "tic" sound with every movement the baby makes on the parental unit. If no movement is detected, the "tic" sound will stop and after 20 seconds the alarm will sound.
Sound and Movement without "Tic": You can hear your baby’s sounds and see sound lights on the parental unit. Your baby's movement is still being detected but you just won't hear any "tic". If no movement is detected after 20 seconds the alarm will sound.
Sound Only (No Movement Sensor): You can hear your baby’s sounds and see sound lights on the parental unit. The movement sensor is off.

Angelcare AC201 movement sensor has received huge number of favourable reviews. Angelcare Deluxe Movement Sensor AC401

The Angelcare Deluxe Movement Sensor AC401 does the same job as the AC201, monitoring both the sound and movement of the baby. However it offers a number of additional features compared to the AC201. Some of the main ones include:

A color LCD digital display on the parental unit
Thermometer on the nursery unit with the temperature displayed on the parental unit. It can alert you when the temperature becomes too high or too low.
Soft nightlight on the nursery unit
Out of range indicator alerts you when the nursery and the parental units are not communicating with each other.
Sound monitoring can be continuous or "voice activated". With continuous monitoring, you get to hear every little sound made by the baby. With "voice activated" monitoring, you hear the sound depending on how sensitive you set the microphone. There are 4 levels of setting.
