What is it? Sleep Stages

Most people go through 4 or 5 sleep cycles during an 8 hour sleep period, with each cycle lasting about 90-110 minutes and consisting of 5 stages.

In the early sleep cycles, the Delta sleep stages last longer than the REM stages. In the later cycles, the REM stages lengthen, whereas the Delta sleep stages decrease and eventually disappear (see diagram above). Each sleep cycle has multiple almost-awake moments when you are naturally closest to waking and these are the times when you want to be woken up. For SleepTracker Pro to do its job, all you need to do is:

  1. Set your preferred waking time (say 6:00 a.m.).
  2. Set an alarm window (say 30 minutes). An alarm window is the time (duration) before your preferred waking time that you are happy to be woken up.

In this example, SleepTracker Pro identifies an almost-awake moment within your alarm window (i.e. sometime between 5:30 and 6:00 a.m.) and wakes you up when you are most alert. This way you wake up feeling refreshed instead of tired and sleepy!
